California Academic & Research Libraries Association provides opportunities for the professional growth of its members by conducting workshops and arranging programs, encourages the exchange of ideas and information relating to library cooperation and development; to disseminate educational information oriented to those working in academic and research libraries; and supports and participates in programs of other regional and local organizations in California in order to promote and improve library service to the academic and research community.

California Preservation Program provides information, education and expert assistance on preservation of collections to libraries, archives, historical societies, cultural institutions and records repositories in California.

California State Archives, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State, provides a repository for the state's permanent governmental records as well as other materials documenting California history to a wide variety of researchers.

California State Library, a California public research institution, provides its customers with the accurate, up-to-date information they need to do their jobs easily, quickly, and confidently. It is the central reference and research library for state government and the Legislature, it provides non-partisan research to the Legislature and the Governor, it collects, preserves, generates and disseminates information ranging from California's priceless historical items to today's online texts, and it advises, consults with, and provides technical assistance to California's public libraries, and it directs state and federal funds to support local public libraries and statewide library programs, and services.

Historical Society Of Southern California is the oldest historical society in California.

History Day L.A. is part of a national program that encourages students to prepare posters, exhibits, papers, websites, performances, and documentary presentations on a historical theme. These projects will be judged by community members and social science professionals. Participation in History Day L.A. provides opportunities for students to meet content standards and improve academic achievement.   

Huell Howser California’s Gold is one of the longest running and most beloved series about California ever produced and is endorsed by a number of organizations including: the California Teachers Association; the California Federation of Teachers; the California State Library Foundation; the California Library Association; the California School Boards Association; the California Council for the Social Studies; and the California Historical Society.
