The institutions and private collections listed in the directory retain all ownership rights to their collections. No one may use any of the archival materials without obtaining all required individual authorizations, releases, consents, clearances and licenses as may be necessary with respect to the use of the materials. The directory provides contact information for all the listed institutions and private collections and these should be institutions should be contacted directly to obtain such approvals.
The structure of the directory and the nomenclature used to describe and categorize collections are the property of the LA as Subject Archives Forum, an association of archivists, artists, librarians, local leaders, and researchers dedicated to improving the visibility, access, and preservation of archives and collections documenting the rich history of the Los Angeles region. No part of the LA as Subject directory structure and nomenclature may be copied, downloaded, stored in a retrieval system, further transmitted or otherwise reproduced, stored, disseminated, transferred or used, in any form or by any means, except as permitted herein or with prior written agreement.
Storing, copying, displaying, disseminating any part of the LA as Subject directory for commercial purposes is prohibited.
