Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes L.A. as Subject's policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of your information. When using the Site you consent to the collection, transfer, manipulation, storage, disclosure, and other uses of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collected Upon Registration

When you are granted an account, or reconfigure your existing account, you provide some personal information such as your name, phone number, institutional address, and email address. Some of this information, for example, your name and institutional address, is listed publicly on the Site. We shall use appropriate security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected from you at the Site. Additionally, we agree to not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

Additional Information

The Site is primarily designed to help you share information with the L.A. as Subject membership and the world. You may provide us with additional information to make public, such as a short collection description, your location, or a picture. You may customize your Institutional page with information such as a blog, Twitter, or other media feeds to help direct traffic to your institution and increase the visibility of your collections. We may use your contact information to send you information about L.A. as Subject, the Site, events, and related issues.

Cookies

Like many websites, we use "cookie" technology to collect additional website usage data and to improve the Site, but we do not require cookies for many parts of the Site. A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your computer's hard disk. We may use both session cookies and persistent cookies to better understand how you interact with the Site, to monitor aggregate usage by our users, and to improve the Site. Most Internet browsers automatically accept cookies. You can instruct your browser, by editing its options, to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie from the websites you visit.

Changes to this Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version of the policy will govern our use of your information. If we make a change to this policy that, in our sole discretion, is material, we will notify you via e-mail to the e-mail associated with your L.A. as Subject member account. By continuing to access or use the Site after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.

If you feel that this site is not following the above policy, please contact the USC Libraries Project Manager, Tim Stanton, at 310-821-5568 or e-mail him at tim.stanton@usc.edu
