The Brick People : Documentary Screening followed by Q&A

The film “The Brick People,” based on a book of the same name, tells the fascinating story of a company-town built around a famous Southern California brick factory. The Simon brick factory’s contribution to the social history of urbanization of Southern California goes beyond the countless number of brick and tiles used to construct downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena. The film is appropriate for all ages and students of California history will be surprised to learn of this little known company town that existed from about 1900 until the 1950s in a corner of Los Angeles County near today's City of Commerce.
